With a teammate down, Troi Melton put on one of her best performances of the season.
The Boston University-bound forward tallied 21 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and six steals for Cardinal Spellman in a 59-46 win over Our Lady of Victory in CHSAA Bronx/Westchester girls basketball Friday. The Pilots lost guard Laura McCaffrey to a small fracture in her elbow in the first quarter and she will likely miss at least a week.
“Troi was outstanding,” Spellman coach Jane Morris said.
Onia Webb scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Amber Griffin added eight points and seven boards. Our Lady of Victory pulled within six points in the third quarter. The Pilots (12-4, 9-0) welcome St. John Villa to The Bronx Sunday for a game with seeding implications in the CHSAA Archdiocesan Class A tournament.
IVY LEAGUE
Poly Prep 57, Horace Mann 33: Lily Donahue poured in 14 points and grabbed 24 rebounds for Poly Prep (9-1, 5-0). Kerri Saputo scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Katie Friel added 12 points. Rachel Lander led Horace Mann (6-4, 3-2) with 10 points and Maddy Gordon and Clara Hill each added eight.
ACIS
Staten Island Academy 66, Packer 27: Mayana LeGrande and Bethany Claps each scored 20 points for Staten Island Academy (15-4, 7-0) in ACIS. Casey Bray added eight points. The Tigers locked up the league regular-season title and an automatic bid to the NYSAISAA Class C tournament. Caitlin McGrath and Natalie Kass-Kaufman each led Packer with seven points.
NON-LEAGUE
Dwight 66, Fieldston 34: Tia Scott scored 11 of her 19 points from the free throw line, dished out nine assists and started transition with her defense for Dwight (15-4). Cidney Brown added 18 points, including two 3-pointers and St. Peter’s-bound Antonia Smith dropped in 12 points. Annie Fernandez led Fieldston (1-8) with 16 points.
Riverdale 48, Convent of the Sacred Heart 29: Morgan Brock-Smith had eight points and 10 rebounds and Chelsea Baez added seven point and five boards for Riverdale (5-5) in non-league. Meg Martin chipped in six points and Katherine Cole had five points and nine rebounds.
