Claudio Reyna thinks getting out of Thursday’s game at halftime spared his calf further injury, and there’s a good chance he can play Saturday’s high-profile tilt at Los Angeles against David Beckham, Landon Donovan and the Galaxy’s MLS-leading offense.
“Itâs alright,” said Reyna. “Iâm going to try in the next couple of days to see how it feels as far as training goes. Itâs still a little bit tight. Itâs nothing bad, so itâs just a case of making sure its right so I donât set myself back. Itâs just being cautious. It just tightened up and needs a few days to loosen up. Weâll see monitoring it day-by-day to see how it improves so hopefully thereâs still a good chance I could be ready by Saturday.ââ
Reyna is listed as questionable.
“I think itâs too early for me to make a decision either way. I can only go by what Rick (Guter, trainer) tells me,” said coach Juan Carlos Osorio. “At the moment heâs doing his rehab and we hope that heâs healthy to go, but if thatâs not the case weâll adjust accordingly.”
That would likely be starting Mike Magee at central attacking midfield.
