New York fans aren’t the only ones tough on their superstars.

Cavaliers supporters jeered LeBron James last night, who struggled through a 3-of-14, 15-point game in a 120-88 bashing by the Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. The boos were coming down after James missed a jump shot late in the fourth quarter, in what could be his final game in Cleveland, then the fans took to the internet to continue bashing the superstar.

In a fan poll on Cleveland.com, 69-percent of voters either chose “Yes. He’s already gone” and “Who cares? I’m so disgusted right now” to the “Has LeBron James played his last home game as a Cavalier?” question.

“Our entire franchise has done everything in its power to put all of our players and its coaching staff in the best possible position to execute when it counts,” Gilbert said, according to Cleveland.com. “And to deliver to the highly supportive fans of Cleveland a proud, intense, impassioned all-out drive to achieve a championship.

“The last two home playoff losses and the manner in which we lost these games does not come close to being anywhere near the high expectations all of us have of our organization. Our fans and supporters deserve more.”

The fans used much more colorful language to describe their frustration. Here’s some sample comments:

Thanks for the memories? What memories. He has held this city hostage for two years and has yet to deliver anything. When he wins his next championship it will be his first. When he plays bad, he feels bad for himself? Only an immature teenager would say something so childish. He just doesn’t get what it takes to be a man. What a baby. What a loser!!!

Personally, I’m about ready to absolve Mike Brown of blame. His star player has been giving 1 quarter (usually the fourth) of effort all season. At first I thought Brown couldn’t use the pieces properly. Then I thought Mike Brown needed to get on his players and motivate them to win. However, after this game I remembered something that happened in the middle of the season. LeBron came out in the first half doing absolutely nothing, and Mike Brown was caught on camera getting in his face and telling him that he was the groups leader and they needed him to come out with a fire. So, I think Brown is doing his job in terms of motivation. So, it falls to LeBron. He is either hurt far worse than he has let on, or he has one foot out the door already, and has all season long. If he is hurt, he has my full support and I wish him well and can’t wait for next year. If it’s the latter? Well, quite frankly, #@$& you, LeBron.

LeBron MAILED it in last night ans said “Farewell” hometown fans. Accept it! It was a personal affront to the team, the city and anyone that respects the sport of basketball. He mailed it in and should be somewhere else next season with a team that will not have half a chance of making the playoffs. And poor coach Brown . . . will this finally be the end of his coaching career? I certainly hope so. His coaching ability has NOT improved one ounce since he came to cleveland and there is no indication that it ever will. He is no coach and should be relieved of his duties no matter whether LeBron stays of leaves – he is pathetic.

Good Bye LeBron it was fun while it lasted. another will come along and pick up the mantle and make us proud while we will continue to watch you seek a championshihp with no success because everyone saw the hand you played last night. Actually, don’t bother going to Boston for the next game. fake that you are injured and save a little face.

Hate to say this but the look in james eyes says I quit. He appears to have quit on all of us. So so sad.

I’ve been as positive about this situation as anyone, more than most. I’ve always felt that he’d be back. I’m just not sure anymore. His performance in this series is, I don’t even know how to describe it. Un-LeBron-like? He’s showing no fire, no emotion, no energy, no cohesion with teammates. Now the story about the locker room being a mess with Mike Brown and his line-ups.

He looks like a guy who has one foot out the door. And to the “he won’t go out like that, what about his legacy at home” etc argument? He said all you needed to hear last night with the “3 bad games out of 70” comment. He’s already justified his play in this series.

I’m gonna be sick. Anyone know if Wade would be interested in coming to CLE?

LeBron is gone. He is so out of here he has lost his edge. Saw the same thing with Sabathia in 2008. Cy Young prior year dreams of NY the next, of course he couldn’t throw a strike or get an out that year until he was out of Cleveland. The thing that is so sad about this is Z returned for less money than he could have made somewhere else for the chance at a championship. This is LeBron’s team and he is basically telling them all “You don’t mean a thing because I am out of here”. It is just low that he couldn’t at least play it out this year. Last year against Orlando he at least fought hard to win those games. Now – he just does not care. Typical Cleveland luck.

I think a lot of people are writing off Lebron James out of emotion and voicing how they want him to leave because of that, but honestly, it is that same attitude that will make him actually want to leave. He has given us some of the most exciting moments in Cleveland sports history. Instead of booing, this is an opportunity to cheer him on. Let’s try to will him out of his slump with positivity, in the same way that he has tried to will our city out of its “slump”. GO CAVS!!
