LONDON — Coach Mike Krzyzewski can’t understand the notion Team USA should blow out every team from opening tap to final whistle.
“If you’re looking for a game we’ll dominate every minute of the game, it’s not going to happen,’’ said Coach K, whose club faces lightly regarded Australia in tonight’s semifinals. “Teams are too good. It’s not 20 years ago. Those days are over.’’
When a reporter used “defensive struggles’’ to start a question, Coach K interrupted, “I’m not sure what you mean, defensive struggles. Do you not think people are going to score against us? We’ve been together six weeks. I don’t know if we’ve established a defensive dominance. We’re still working on who we are.
“[Assistant] Mike D’Antoni had a good statement. We got to find a sweet spot. If you win by too much it’s wrong. If you win by too little, that’s wrong. You just got to find a way to win by what’s enough.’’
