COLLINS’ JAB IRKS MARCUS
KNICK NOTES
TORONTO – After Marcus Camby missed his 14th game of the season yesterday, the Knicks ailing center was told about a cutting remark made by analyst Doug Collins on yesterday’s NBC broadcast.
Collins said as good as Camby is, you have expect he’ll miss 15 to 20 games a season because of being injury-prone.
Camby wasn’t amused.
“That’s why he’s commentating and not coaching,” Camby said of Collins.
Camby, the former Raptor, added “There’s enough negativity when I come here anyway. That’s why I like to play the game and get out.”
Of the 14 games Camby has missed this season, nine are due to injury and five from his fighting suspension. Camby’s back spasms forced him to miss his second straight game yesterday in Toronto – both losses. He spent the game in the locker room getting heat treatment.
Camby is hoping to return tomorrow vs. Indiana. The Knicks are 8-6 in his absence.
“It’s a little improvement but I wouldn’t say it was a drastic improvement,” Camby said. “I need to get back out there as soon as possible the way things are going now. I’m shooting for Tuesday.”

Glen Rice underwent electric shockwave treatment in Toronto Saturday for his sore left foot and it didn’t help his play.
For the second straight game, Rice shot 2 of 9 and he has to start thinking about shutting it down for a while to see if his foot improves. Rice was to stay over another day in Toronto for a second treatment but decided not to because of the expected snowstorm in New York.
