Tiger Woods can forget about adding a Congressional Gold Medal to his trophy room.
Rep. Joe Baca has withdrawn a bill aimed at giving Woods the award, which a congressional Web site calls the body’s “highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions.”
Baca, D-Calif., had wanted to give Woods the award for his “service to the nation in promoting excellence and good sportsmanship, and in breaking barriers with grace and dignity by showing that golf is a sport for all people,” TMZ.com reported.
But the site reported that now Baca says, “In light of the recent developments surrounding Tiger Woods and his family, I will not pursue legislation awarding him the Congressional Gold Medal this session.”
