LEXINGTON, Ky. — Connemara will try to earn his way into the Kentucky Derby in the $300,000 Lexington Stakes on Saturday at Keeneland.
The 3-year-old colt trained by Todd Pletcher will start from the No. 10 post in the 12-horse field. The Lexington is a final major prep for the May 1 Derby. Connemara will be ridden by Russell Baze.
Connemara won the El Camino Real Derby in February and finished third in the Lane’s End Stakes at Turfway Park last month. He currently has $138,500 in graded stakes earnings and would easily move into the top 20 in graded earnings by taking home the $180,000 winner’s share Saturday.
Pletcher, who has won the Lexington in each of the last two years, also saddles Exhi in the Lexington.
