Boston shock-jock Kirk Minihane opened up about his recent absence from his WEEI show.

“I’ve talked a lot about my issues with depression, and I’ve battled it the last three months or so,” Minihane, half of “Kirk and Callahan,” tweeted Thursday. “Last Thursday night I checked into the ER at Winchester Hospital with suicidal thoughts. I was then moved to McLean, where I was treated and released earlier this week.

“I’ll be back at work tomorrow, and I’m a little nervous about it,” he added. “But I’m not ashamed or embarrassed. And we’ll do what we do — we’ll talk about it.”

That’s what Minihane does.

Minihane joined the “Dennis and Callahan” show in 2013, and immediately became known as one of the most controversial sports radio hosts in the country. He used unsavory language toward reporter Erin Andrews, for which he was suspended, and later made headlines when he said the Patriots should “hire someone to murder” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over his Deflategate handling.
