Ryan Wittman had 25 points, freshman guard Chris Wroblewski added 12 in just his seventh start, and Cornell beat Penn 83-58 last night in Ithaca to clinch the Ivy League title and a berth in the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.

The win for Cornell (20-9, 10-3 Ivy) was its 20th straight at Newman Arena, the fourth-longest home streak in the nation. It also gave Cornell the third 20-win season in program history and the first back-to-back ones in 110 years of basketball.

Rob Belcore had 16 points to lead Penn (9-17, 5-7).

Columbia 58, Princeton 44

K.J. Matsui scored 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers, as Columbia (12-15, 7-5) eliminated the Tigers (12-13, 7-5) from the Ivy League race.

COLONIAL TOURNEY

Hofstra 79, UNC-W 66

Charles Jenkins scored 27 points and dished out nine assists to lead Hofstra past North Carolina-Wilmington in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament in Richmond, Va.

The Pride’s bench totaled 32 rebounds, leading Hofstra (21-10) to a 43-30 edge on the boards. The fifth-seeded Pride, who have won seven of their last eight games, will face fourth-seeded Old Dominion (20-9) in today’s quarterfinals.

In other games, Towson (11-21) was a 73-62 winner over Drexel (15-14), Georgia State (12-19) topped Delaware 54-41 and James Madison (19-13) beat William & Mary 70-48.

OVC TOURNEY

Austin Peay 67, Murray St. 50

Drake Reed scored 18 points to lead Austin Peay (19-12) past Murray State (19-12) in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament in Nashville. The Governors face Morehead State (18-15) in today’s championship after the Eagles upset top-seeded Tennessee-Martin 63-55 in the other semifinal.

ATLANTIC SUN TOURNEY

ETSU 88, Belmont 74

Curtney Pigram scored 30 points and East Tennessee State beat Belmont in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament in Nashville. The Buccaneers (22-10), the second seed, advance to today’s title game against Jacksonville (18-12), an 88-72 win over Lipscomb.
