The Medger Evers girls track team picked up a three-peat.
The Cougars beat out Brooklyn Tech 111-63 for the PSAL Brooklyn indoor title at the Armory last Saturday. Midwood placed third with 57 points. Sheepshead Bay took home the boys crown by besting Thomas Jefferson 86-59. Defending champion Midwood was third with 49 points.
Medgar Evers runners Sandrae Farquharson and Shakele Seaton placed first and second, respectively, in the 600 with times of 1:35.14 and 1:35.18. Sheniece Daphness won the 55 meter dash for Medgar Evers in 7.24. Seaton, Daphness and Kennedy Alexis were also members of the second place 4 x 400 relay team with a time of 4:07, finishing behind Jewell Jacobs, Seanelle Weaver, Jhanee Strerrett, and Sally Diarra of Boys & Girls (4:06.60).
Nyanka Moise-Joseph placed first in the 300 with a mark of 39.22. Camille Edwards won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 8.5 inches and the triple jump in 36-01.25, headed of teammate Tiana Gondola (35-03.25).
Boys & Girls swept the top three spots in the 1000 with Johanna Jimenez winning in 3:12.41. Banneker’s Breanna Cummings placed first in the 15000 in a time of 5:04.73 and teammate Abena Dinizulu won the 3000 in 12:00.55. Jefferson’s Addishia Dixon took home the 55 hurdles title with a time of 8.78. Zerah Theodore of Lane earned the high jump title with a leap of 4-09. Mary Leong of Midwood (7-00) took home the pole vault title and Brooklyn Tech’s Megan Low won the 1500 race walk in 8:50.47.
Canarsie’s squad of Ismanuela Denis, Ashley Denton, Shenika King and Rebecca Brown were first in the 4 x 200 relay with a time of 1:48.03. Sarah Gray, Ricki Liu, Denise Branch and Shay Quana Abrams won the 4 x 800 race with a mark of 10:37.70. Sheepshead Bay’s Adanna Morgon was first in the shot put with a toss of 31-05.25.
On the boys side, the Sheepshead’s Devin Lee (6.53) bested Midwood’s Alex Sterling (6.53) and Medgar Evers’ Brent Jules (6.54) in the 55 dash. Richmond Ahadzi easily won the hurdles with a time of 7.51. Teammates Andre Jordan (34.44) and Adrian Lewis (34.81) placed first and second in the 300. Mitchell Kun took home the 3200 crown with a mark of 10:18.87. Lee, Ahadzi, Kensy Jean Claude and Troy Lawson won the 4 x 800 relay in a time of 3:25.87. Rolyce Boston won the long jump title with a leap of 21 feet 11.50 inches and finished third in the triple jump (45-01.25). Richardo Appleton (42-07.50) was second in the shot put behind Midwood’s Joshua Talavera (46-04.25).
Robert Rhodes of Boys & Girls won the 600 in a time of 1:21.23. Transit Tech’s Oluwasey Durosoga was first in the 1000 in 2:37.03 and was second behind Jefferson’s Sidgie Green (4:46.65) in the 1600 with a mark of 4:46.74. Green was also second in the 3200 with a time of 10:18.91. Durosoga was a member of the winning 4 x 800 squad of Trean Codrington, Rahemm Pickett and Rhyeem Henry with a time of 8:42.84.
The Erasmus Hall team of Tyquan Dukes, Auste Graham, Jerrel Puckerine and Shane Green were first in the 4 x 2000 relay in 1:29.90. Shane Green was also first in the triple jump with a mark of 48-01.50. Brian Ocasio of Lafayette took home the high jump crown with a leap of 6-03. Brooklyn Tech’s James Talisse won the pole vault with a mark of 8-06.
