LISBON, Portugal — Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled a statue of himself on his home island of Madeira in Portugal on Sunday.
Ronaldo called the larger-than-life bronze statue — with its gaze-stealing fabric folds in the shorts area — “prettier than me,” according to Spanish news agency Europa Press.
The preening, supermodel-dating 29-year-old Real Madrid forward helped the Spanish team win the Club World Cup in Morocco on Saturday.
Ronaldo, who has a museum on Madeira dedicated to his career exploits, said: “I never expected to have a statue in my life.”
