The winners of the 2007 Eclipse Awards for outstanding performance in thoroughbred racing were announced last night at the annual Eclipse Awards dinner in Beverly Hills.

Curlin, who did not make his first start until February, then went on to win six of nine starts, including the Preakness and Breeders’ Cup Classic, was named Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old male. Rags to Riches, who beat Curlin by a head in the Belmont Stakes, received the Eclipse for top 3-year-old filly.

Other awards went to War Pass, 2-year-old male; Indian Blessing, 2-year-old filly; Lawyer Ron, older male; Ginger Punch, older female; and English Channel, male turf horse.
