JET NOTES

MIAMI – Damien Robinson had already been pressing for his first interception of the season. So, when a Jay Fiedler pass glanced off both of his hands late in the second quarter, he was beside himself. But not long after, the Jets’ SS, who’s endured his share of bad publicity this season with the assault rifle arrest and the flagrant face mask on Aaron Brooks, redeemed himself.

He picked off Fiedler trying to force a pass into the end zone to Chris Chambers.

“It feels good to finally get [an INT], especially in a big game like this,” said Robinson, who had six INTs last season with Tampa Bay. “I was pressing. I was frustrated. I came here with high expectations and goals for myself.”

Said Jets’ CB Ray Mickens: “It’s good for him to get some positive ‘pub.’ When he was down, he was in that locker room facing the fire. This is what we brought him here for.”

Mickens also had a big game, sacking Fiedler and forcing a fumble on a blitz in the fourth quarter to help preserve the win. It was Mickens’ fourth career sack.

The first-quarter INT by Jets’ CB Aaron Glenn was his fifth of the season and 24th of his career, moving him into a tie for third place on the franchise’s all-time list.

On the play, Dolphins’ WR James McKnight bobbled the ball after it hit his helmet and Glenn picked it out of the air and ran 60 yards with it for a TD.

The last time the Dolphins were shut out at home was in 1970, Don Shula’s first year as the Miami head coach.

For the Jets, it was their eighth shutout in franchise history, the last coming in 1997 against the Buccaneers.

The Jets’ only offensive TD came on a 17-yard Vinny Testaverde scoring pass to WR Laveranues Coles with 1:44 remaining in the first half. It was Coles fifth TD reception of the season.
