Post handicapper John DaSilva made a late run on the last day of the meet to win the Saratoga Showdown with a bankroll of $1,381.25.

His win bet lost, but the $30 place bet cashed when Rein King held second in the third race, returning $6.40 for a profit of $46.

Vic Cangialosi finished in second with $1,293.30, and Ed Fountaine was third with $1,009.90. Showdown rookie and former Mets catcher Paul LoDuca, who led the way for the first few weeks, was fourth with $912.50

DaSilva also beat the odds by showing a profit at the end of the 393-race meet with a total return of $788.30.
