“Saturday Night Live” (SNL) offered a guest slot to Galaxy star David Beckham after his emergence as an unlikely comedy talent, British newspaper the Daily Mirror reported Saturday.
Producers were apparently wowed by Beckham’s amusing appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week, during which the L.A. Galaxy midfielder performed a funny turn on a massage table. They swiftly presented the 35-year-old with the opportunity to make his debut on the hit sketch show.
“People often underestimate David’s wry sense of humor and faultless natural timing,” a source close to the player told the paper. “But he’s actually very funny and has no problem poking fun at himself. It’s a huge deal for David and will make him an even bigger star Stateside than he already is.”
After his SNL skit is over, the source said Beckham wanted to earn a role on a long-running British comedy favorite, adding, “His dream now is to record a cameo in ‘Only Fools And Horses’ – it’s his ultimate comedic fantasy.”
And just for gratiuitous hilarity, we leave you with a glimpse of the height of Goldenballs’ comedic career, he and Posh’ hysterically-funny appearance on Ali-G. Much merriment!
