DAVID GOES POST-AL
David Wells has fingered the reason his book, “Perfect I Am Not” is causing a colossal buzz: The Post.
According to the pitcher turned author, had The Post ignored his story about admitting he pitched a perfect game in 1998 half-drunk and wrote about it Thursday, the firestorm he is living in wouldn’t have developed.
The book, which is headed for the best seller’s list, has already put almost $500,000 in Wells’ pocket before it’s released.
A look at how the loquacious lefty changed his tune:

What he said in the book
“As of this writing, 15 men in the history of baseball have ever thrown a perfect game. Only one of those men did it half-drunk . . .That would be me.”
What he said on Feb. 26 about his comments in the book
“I don’t recommend doing that. It’s not healthy. It was a phase of my life when I was a party animal. Back then I went out all the time. I could do no wrong that year.”
What he says now
“[Harper Collins] had a deal to get some recognition out with The Post and The Post turned around and screwed them. And that’s how this whole mess started. You write a book and you want to get some recognition and try to promote it.”
