MIAMI — Doc Rivers said he is likely coming back to coach the Celtics next season.

Rivers’ status has been the source of speculation for some time, and the sense was that he might decide to take a break from coaching. After his team was ousted from the Eastern Conference semifinals by Miami in five games after a 97-87 loss last night, Rivers said he “probably will” return.

Rivers just completed his seventh season with the Celtics. He says he’s “a Celtic” and “wants to win again here.”

Rivers led the Celtics to the 2008 NBA championship, then back to the NBA finals again last season when they lost in seven games to the Lakers.

“I don’t believe this team is done,” Rivers said.
