THE boating industry is asking President Obama not to shut out the recreational angler.
The industry has called on Obama to stop using Presidential proclamations to bypass environmental reviews such as ones used by President Bush which outlawed recreational fishing at U.S. National Monuments in the Pacific Ocean.
“We are hopeful that (President) Obama and his administration will abandon this model of managing marine resources and look to the angling, boating and conservation communities as partners in environmental stewardship,” said Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

A new online game called DockIt!, found at http://www.BoatUS.com/games, will help get you through the winter and improve your boating skills.
The DockIt! game allows users to select one of three boats: stern drive powerboat; inboard powerboat; and deep draft sailboat. Each vessel has its own unique handling characteristics.
Players use the arrow buttons on a standard computer keyboard to safely maneuver the boat into a slip – no special gaming equipment is required. Three levels of play are offered and helpful boating tips periodically appear on-screen.
The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife has announced plans to implement a recently approved Conservation Order for snow geese.
Implementation of the CO establishes an unlimited harvest spring hunting season from March 11-April 18. In addition to the no-bag-limit hunting season outside of the traditional hunting period, the CO allows for the use of electronic calls and shotguns loaded with up to seven shells.
