MILAN — Dutch star Wesley Sneijder confirmed that he will stay at Serie A club Inter Milan after a move to the English Premier League (EPL) side Manchester United failed to materialize, Sky Sports reported Tuesday.

The 27-year-old playmaker said he would be open to joining Manchester United, while a number of the EPL club’s players said he would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.

But the clubs never agreed a deal, and Sneijder confirmed that he would be staying with Inter once the European transfer window slams shut Wednesday.

“I’m staying at Inter. I don’t think I’ll leave at this moment of market,” Sneijder was quoted as saying by the Dutch broadcaster NOS. “Manchester United? Anything is possible in football, but I don’t think this time something will happen.”
