East Cobb Baseball
MARIETTA, Ga. — Down here at Perfect Game’s 17U World Wood Bat Association 17U National Championship
There are tons of scouts here, and 192 teams from around the country. It’s the place to be this week for amateur baseball. Scouts from colleges and major league teams are everwhere and the East Cobb Baseball Complex is one of the prettiest in the nation.
And the local high school fields, public and private, put to shame the fields in the northeast, they all look like cow pastures compared to these Fields of Dreams.
If you are ever going on a baseball tour to different parts of the country — Cooperstown, Williamsport, Jupiter (in late October), Omaha — this East Cobb setting is a must destination.
Most of the game’s future stars play in one of the Perfect Game events like this or Jupiter or one of the many Perfect Game Showcases. The numbers are astounding. Make sure to read my column in tomorrow’s Post for all the details and amazing background of the rise of amateur baseball in the USA.
