TOM FOOL

Aqueduct, 9th race. Grade 3. Purse: $200,000. Six furlongs, 3-year-olds and up. Post: 4:34 p.m.

LOWDOWN: Calibrachoa has a lot going for him in this short field. He likes to win (9-for-19). He likes the distance (8-for-15). He’s a horse-for-the-course (2-for-3 over the inner dirt). He’s got sharp recent form (a 2¼-length score in the Feb. 4 Toboggan coming off a layoff). He’s got good tactical speed. He’s run more 100-plus Beyers than anyone else in the field (five), and he’s getting four pounds from morning-line favorite Caleb’s Posse, who is making his first start of the year and wants more distance.

TV: HRTV, TVG, NYRA Channel 71.

GOTHAM

Aqueduct, 10th race. Grade 3. Purse: $400,000. 1 1/16 miles, 3-year-olds. Post: 5:02 p.m.

LOWDOWN: My Adonis is the pick to spring a mild upset over Hansen, who held off My Adonis’ late charge by a half-length last out going a mile in the Holy Bull. My Adonis gets a bit more distance today, his best races have come around two turns, he broke his maiden with a romp in the mud, and perhaps most important, he drew the rail to post 12 for Hansen.

TV: HRTV, TVG, NYRA Channel 71.

SANTA ANITA HANDICAP

Santa Anita, 11th race. Grade 1. Purse: $750,000. 1¼ miles, 4-year-olds and up. Post: 8:35 p.m.

LOWDOWN: Setsuko was bounced around down the stretch in last year’s rough-run Big Cap when beaten a nose by Game On Dude, who turned out to be a very good horse indeed and would be a strong favorite in this year’s renewal if he wasn’t headed to the Dubai World Cup. Setsuko gets in lighter this year — he has been gelded — and returned from a long layoff with a strong score in a prep for this race four weeks ago.

TV: HRTV, NYRA Channel 71.

LAST WEEK: A sweep! At Gulfstream, Awesome Maria won the Sabin paying $3.80, $2.20, $2.10; at Fair Grounds, El Padrino won the Risen Star paying $3.60, $2.80, $2.20; at Santa Anita, The Factor won the San Carlos paying $3.40, $2.80, $2.10.
