LOWDOWN: CC’S Pal rallied for third against a much better field eight days ago in the Grade 2 Go For Wand. She shortens up from a mile today and is 0-for-1 at six furlongs, but she won two starts back going seven furlongs and red-hot trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. does well wheeling horses back on short rest.

LOWDOWN: Vexor was a game-winner of the Nashua at Belmont at 18-1, then was run off his feet in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint, when they dashed the first quarter-mile in :20 4/5 seconds and the half in :44 2/5. He has put in two bullet workouts since then.

LOWDOWN: Tweebster was one of the top older horses in Bob Baffert’s stable last winter, running second in the San Fernando and Strub, before going on the shelf after the Santa Anita Handicap. After finishing second in his return on Nov. 11, he has turned in two fast works and gets blinkers on.
