SARATOGA SPRINGS – There will not be a separate detention barn for the horses running in the $1 million Travers Stakes on Aug. 25, as there was for the Belmont Stakes, but there will be “a series of enhanced security protocols,” the N.Y. State Racing and Wagering Board announced Wednesday:

*Horses running in the Travers must be on the grounds by Wednesday, Aug. 22.

*Horses will have out-of-competition blood tests done Aug. 22.

*Horses will stay in their assigned stalls, which will be monitored 24/7 by additional security personnel.

*Daily veterinarians’ records of medications and treatments given the horses from Aug. 22 up to the race will be provided to the SRWB, which will post those records on its web site each day.

Except for the out-of-competition testing, the New York Racing Association will cover the costs of these added security measures.
