ESPN’s undeclared “Bobby Knight Week” came to an abrupt halt yesterday when its heavily promoted “SportsCentury” profile on Knight was pulled at the last moment. The show was scheduled to air last night at 7:30.

An ESPN spokesperson said the show was pulled because “it wasn’t ready by deadline.” However, an ESPN staffer, insisting upon anonymity, was more specific, claiming that the show was pulled because of “a last-second dispute on content and style between production bosses.”

At 7:30, ESPN displayed a brief, bottom-of-the-screen insert acknowledging that the Knight show would not air, sans explanation. In its place , a same-day re-run of “Pardon The Interruption” was broadcast.
