NASHVILLE, Tenn. — An ESPN spokesman denied telling Titans coach Jeff Fisher or Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio to take timeouts in the closing seconds of Tennessee’s 30-3 victory Monday night, according to a report on the USA Today website.

Del Rio — who wasn’t available to reporters yesterday — called two timeouts in the final two minutes with the game out of reach. Fisher originally said officials alerted him at the two-minute warning that TV was short on commercials, but he refused to take a timeout to stop the clock.

Yesterday, Fisher “clarified” that ESPN never asked him to call timeouts as the clock wound down.
