Re: Zidane Head Butt

CC: All Media, Everywhere

Dear James:

Excellent call on the “5 Good Minutes” portion of Wednesday’s Pardon the Interruption.

Co-host Michael Wilbon asked you, jokingly, if you ever head butted anyone in the tennis world – a question in reference to Zinedine Zidane’s nowfamous World Cup head butt of Marco Materazzi. You said that at one time or another you probably head butted your brother while growing up, but added that Materazzi “deserved an Oscar” for his performance in the episode.

Thank you!

While Zidane’s action was deplorable, The Memo believes Materazzi needs a good tongue lashing, too. How is it that Materazzi’s flop wasn’t more publicized and criticized?

Come on! That head butt wasn’t all that hard. Materazzi looked like he was hit by truck. Wilbon called Zidane a fraud on Wednesday’s show. Spread the fraud wealth around to Materazzi, too.

The Memo likes colleague Vic C.’s idea on how to improve the World Cup, home of floppers and crybabies. Next time, instead of calling it the 2010 World Cup, call it the 2010 Sippy Cup.
