It looks like Gilbert Arenas was going to have an explosive Fourth of July.

According to TMZ, the former NBA star was pulled over by California police for speeding on an Los Angeles highway. But officers quickly saw a giant stash of fireworks, reportedly 100 pounds-worth, which Arenas had piled into the back of his Ford pickup. It wasn’t too difficult for authorities to see the dynamite piled up in the open truck.

Arenas was arrested for possesion of illegal fireworks, so much so that a bombsquad was called in for duty. At around 6:45 a.m. PT he was released without bail and booked for a misdemeanor.

In 2010, he had previously pled guilty to carrying around an unlicensed gun in his Washington Wizards lockerroom. In that case, he had pulled his pistol on now former teammate Javaris Crittenton over a gambling dispute.

He last played with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2011-2012 season.
