Villanova freshman forward JayVaughn Pinkston has been charged with two counts of simple assault and harassment and the former Bishop Loughlin star will be held out of games until the university’s review is completed.

Pinkston was charged by Upper Merion Township Police on Thursday. Pinkston was involved in a weekend altercation that led to an assault report. He will be allowed to practice for the sixth-ranked Wildcats.

Pinkston, of Brooklyn, was named the New York Post’s Player of the Year as a senior.

A source close to Pinkston told The Post the altercation stemmed from an incident at the team’s practice facility.

A source said Pinkston was locked in the laundry room at the facility by two males. The 6-foot-7, 260-pound 18-year-old broke the door down and allegedly got involved in an altercation with the two at a nearby party, a source told The Post.

Villanova opens the season Friday against Bucknell. Coach Jay Wright says Pinkston understands the seriousness of the charge and has learned a lesson.
