Giant Report Card

QUARTERBACKS: C-

At times, Kerry Collins (25 of 44, 268 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) looked as if he was just flinging the ball and hoping. His favorite targets weren’t around and he struggled, often wild high, amid fairly heavy pressure.

RUNNING BACKS : B-

Not a whole lot more Tiki Barber (19-111 rushing, 10-yard TD catch) could do, other than grow a few inches to stretch his body into the end zone on second-quarter lunge.

WIDE RECEIVERS: C-

Welcome to the club, David Tyree (5-106). Rookie showed potential in his first real action. Amani Toomer (6-57) had trouble escaping the clutches of CB Troy Vincent.

TIGHT ENDS: C-

No Jeremy Shockey meant nothing doing. Marcellus Rivers (3-16) doesn’t exactly command the same attention and he was too stiff in end zone, allowing S Brian Dawkins to knock ball away.

OFFENSIVE LINE: D

LT Luke Petitgout on back-to-back plays was called for holding. RG David Diehl flagged twice. Collins under too much heat and blocking at goal line dreadful.

DEFENSIVE LINE: D

The guy wearing No. 5 in the nifty black jersey, his name is Donovan McNabb. Maybe the front four should have introduced themselves to him, if only they got close enough to do so.

LINEBACKERS: F

Watching RB Brian Westbrook (4-48 rushing, 4-60 receiving) isolated on Dhani Jones was not a pretty sight. Westbrook ravaged the Giants for three TDs.

SECONDARY: F

Mix of inexperience and confusion produced openings the size of the Lincoln Tunnel. S Shaun Williams had no shot dealing with Westbrook or TE L.J. Smith. Eagles went right at nickel back Ryan Clark, who was lost in space.

SPECIAL TEAMS: D

Darnell Dinkins made heads-up play recovering a muffed kickoff. Delvin Joyce made bonehead play slamming into Westbrook too early on punt for 15-yard penalty. Brian Mitchell’s return to Philly produced no good returns.

KICKING GAME : B-

Matt Bryant came back from hamstring injury and barely got his kickoffs to the 20-yard line. Hit 30-yard FG. Punting of Jeff Feagles was great, with three of his six kicks down inside the 20.

COACHING: F

Flat, emotionless tone of Jim Fassel after the game spoke volumes – he knows the deal. Reserved tone all week led to unmotivated, listless performance. Why does Johnnie Lynn’s de fense have gaping holes in it?
