ABSTRACT:

THE Knicks are in the midst of writing once of the great New York sports stories of all time.

They have already done better than anyone, themselves included, could have expected, and give every indication of being capable of doing so much more.

In a season of two disappointing baseball teams and one hopeless hockey team, they have been the one bright spot in town.

So why aren’t they more lovable?

Or even Likeable?

So far, they have been exciting, inspiring, surprising, at times even thrilling, even if last night’s 90-78 loss wasn’t one of those times.

They have been a team you could enjoy and a team you could marvel at, for resiliency, determination, self-belief in the face of the odds and against all logic.

But they have never been a team you could cuddle up with. …
