The Giants yesterday signed the first of their seven draft picks when linebacker Quincy Monk agreed to a three-year, $930,000 contract.

Monk, a seventh-round pick from North Carolina, is slotted to play on the strong side, backing up starter Brandon Short. He will receive the rookie minimums ($225,000, $300,000 and $380,000) plus a signing bonus of $25,000.

The Giants also waived two players, DB Tony Badger of West Alabama and DT Eric Hill of Northeastern State.
