Rock Rosa didn’t have to say a word to his Fieldston team after a disappointing loss to Riverdale on Wednesday.
“They knew right away,” the Eagles coach said.
The Eagles responded with an impressive 45-41 double overtime win against Horace Mann at Fieldston in Ivy League girls basketball Friday. Kalijah Terilli scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half, grabbed 14 rebounds, blocked four shot and collected three steals for the Eagles (10-6, 3-3). Carolyn Susman added 10 points and four steals.
“Her being a soccer goalie she gets in the habit of her hands being low,” Rosa said of Terilli. “I showed her something at halftime and her whole energy [changed]. She did a great job defensively.”
Rachel Lander paced Horace Mann (9-3, 4-3) with 14 points and 12 rebounds and Madison Gordon had all 11 points in the second half before fouling out at the end of regulation thanks to Terilli taking two charges. Fieldston gets back in the win column after having its six-game winning streak snapped and Horace Mann has lost two straight.
“It was a quick reversal,” Rosa said.
Terilli made 1-of-2 free throws in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter to make it 39-all and the Eagles were able to stop the Lions. Neither team scored in the first overtime. Terelli had a big basket with 2:40 left in the second overtime to put Fieldston ahead for good.
“They now realize that if that they come to play and remain focused they can be successful,” Rosa said. “I think today was a validation of that.”

St. John Villa 58, Cardinal Spellman 56 OT: Danielle Iacampo scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Sam Flecker had 13 points, including two free throws to seal the game in overtime, to lead St. John Villa (10-4, 3-2). Onia Webb tallied 11 points and Nicole Awooner-Renner had 10 for Spellman (10-4, 4-2), which won the first meeting 67-57. Vanessa Stephens had 12 points, Maria Backman 10 and Joye Tirado connected on a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime. Webb, Awooner-Renner and Backman all fouled out.

Murry Bergtraum 71, Medgar Evers 32: Shequana Harris had 26 points and Ashanae McLaughlin had 12 points to lead Bergtraum (11-4, 9-2 ‘AA’). Medgar Evers is 6-9, 4-6.
Brooklyn Collegiate 42, Manhattan Center 32: Kayla Ortiz had 13 points and Briani Wallace had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Brooklyn Collegiate (7-13, 2-9 ‘AA’), which has won five straight. Hadiyah Black had 20 rebounds and Tajzhane Dopson had eight points and four assists. Manhattan Center is 2-14, 2-12.

Lab Museum United 68, School of the Future 55: Jenny Ramirez had a triple double – 23 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists – to lead LMU (16-2, 12-0 Manhattan A West), which was coming off a non-league victory Wednesday over Baruch College Campus. Ashanti Plummer had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Kelly Niles had 11 points and Camille Recile added eight. School of the Future is 5-6 in Manhattan A South.
