New York City Police Department Emergency Unit at Stitches’ home yesterday. Climbed the ladder for two stories to rid the gutter of fireworks from a day earlier. Ladder fell and Stitches was stuck on the roof, hugging the chimney for nearly three hours until help arrived. Heat must have taken its toll.

Once on the ground, NYPD told me I warned them, “I’m not coming down until all the fireworks are released.” Impromptu press conference was held minutes later as numerous news vans showed. “At first Stitches wasn’t cooperative with us, but we took our time, talked about his weak selections, the cluttered gutters, and he came around.”

Time isn’t on Sonny Gray’s side. No it isn’t. He has lost two in a row and may be coming off his worst start as a Yankee. He was torched for six runs over 2 ¹/₃ innings by rival Boston. Yanks are in Toronto this weekend. This may be a good time for Sonny to come around. 20 units on the Yanks.

Worst. Loss. Ever. Marlins were leading 9-0, yes 9-0, and lost to the Nationals 14-12. Washington’s Trea Turner with eight RBIs. This one might put me back on the roof or to the feet of Lady Liberty. Disturbing loss takes us to -1,038 jeters.
