Dwight Gooden plans to talk to George Steinbrenner and the Yankee command about a contract for next season at the beginning of next week.

Gooden, who was rescued from the baseball scrap heap by Steinbrenner last summer, was part of yesterday’s 25th anniversary Boys & Girls Club at the Waldorf.

“I’ve been active in the Boys & Girls Club in St. Pete and now I would like to get active in the New York end of it,” Gooden said.

Gooden could figure in the Yankee bullpen plans for next season.
