Need a pre-playoff refresher on some of the better girls basketball teams in New York City? This weekend there are two pretty solid events. Saturday and Sunday, South Shore is hosting The Mecca Girls High School Basketball Challenge at Gauchos Gym and Hostos Community College (450 Grand Concourse), also in The Bronx, has its Super Saturday showcase.
A revised schedule for The Mecca Challenge will be up Friday. Here’s the schedule for Hostos:
10 a.m. – Truman vs. Bishop Loughlin
11:30 a.m. – Francis Lewis vs. Mount Vernon
1:00 p.m. – John F. Kennedy vs. Cardinal Spellman
2:30 p.m. – Nazareth vs. Maryland Academy of Technology and Health Sciences
The four girls basketball games are followed by the Hostos women’s team and men’s team hosting Nassau CC at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
