The numbers for Allan Houston’s maximum contract were determined yesterday when the NBAsalary cap was set at $42.5 million.

As a result, Houston’s deal will be worth six years at $100.4 million. Houston is expected to sign his new deal today, the first day of the free-agent signing period.

Houston’s first year salary will be $12.75M, with annual raises of $1.6M. That will bring the last year of his deal up to a $20.7M wage. His average yearly salary comes to $16.7M.

With Houston opting out of the final two years of his contract to become a free agent, the Knicks had little choice but to re-sign the second-best shooting guard on their club. Chris Webber showed little interest in meeting with the Knicks, and they feared further delay with Houston would send him running to the Pistons.
