All great coaches have their own motivational techniques. Vince Lombardi had his, Pat Riley had his. Barcelona’s first-year manager Pep Guardiola has his, and it worked like a charm _ a motivational spliced together that he showed his players right before they took the field to play Manchester United.

In essence it’s a highlight compilation of his Barcelona team this past season, spliced together with scenes from Gladiator. (You know, The Spaniard? Get it?) Anyway he showd it ten minutes before they took the field at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Never mind the fact the first few minutes were Man United’s only good ones of the game.

Now that one of the Spanish papers got ahold of the video and it’s all over Youtube, Pep’s legend grows and winners write the history books. And this one says Pep’s motivation was spot-on.
