Hull has sacked manager Phil Brown in the wake of Saturday’s crushing 2-1 loss to Arsenal. They’re next-to-last in the Premier League table, and will be run temporarily by Brian Horton and Steve Parkin.

For U.S. National Team fans, this begs the obvious question: Will this impact ex-Red Bull striker Jozy Altidore? And will it be positively or negatively?

Of canning the man who not only led Hill into the Premiership but shockingly kept them up, chairman Adam Pearson said: “Promotion to the Premier League in 2008 and retention of our status on the last day of the 2009 season are unique events in the history of Hull and both were achieved under Phil’s stewardship.

“However, retention of Premier League status is paramount and the board believes that a change in managerial direction is the correct option at this time. The club will keep supporters completely up-to-date in respect of any managerial appointment.”

I’m sure U.S. National Team coach Bob Bradley will be one of those watching. With striker Charlie Davies still rehabbing and Clint Dempsey just returning to the field for Fulham, the U.S. can ill afford to have Altidore buried on the bench not playing. They need all the fit attackers they can find for this summer’s World Cup.

Altidore has played 22 league matches for Hull, starting 13 _ including logging 82 minutes in Saturday’s loss.

What do you think will become of the New Jersey-bred Altidore? Think this helps his cause? Hurts it? Share your thoughts…
