Both Derek Jeter and Alfonso Soriano said they hope to play tonight in Cleveland, although it appears Soriano’s hand injury is a bit more serious than Jeter’s.

Their hands – Jeter’s right and Soriano’s left – were heavily bandaged after they were hit by Pedro Martinez pitches yesterday. X-rays and a CAT scan were negative.

“If I’m able to swing the bat and throw, I’ll play,” Jeter said.

Said Soriano, “It’s sore; I might [be out] a game or two, but I’ll see how it feels [tonight].”
