So far, so good for Isiah Thomas at Florida International University.
The former head coach/president of the Knicks landed his second notable recruit in a week, according to a FOX Sports.com report. Thomas signed point guard Phil Taylor from Georgia after landing big man Chris Coleman earlier in the week.
“It’s a really, really good get for him (Isiah),” Scout.com national recruiting director Dave Telep told FOX Sports.
“He’s a small guy with quickness and toughness who has one of those personalities where he can attract other kids.”
Taylor said Thomas’ Hall-of-Fame career on the court was one of the reasons he decided on FIU.
“It’s my dream to play with someone in the Hall of Fame,” Taylor said. “He does what I do and as a kid, he’s one of the guys I patterned my game after.”
Taylor, a Brooklyn native, was also being recruited by Miami, Oregon, Xavier, Arizona and Richmond.
