IT WILL BE JARVIS VS. FRAN
ALBUQUERQUE — The matchup that everyone was waiting for will take place today. But instead of being for the CoSIDA championship, St. John’s and New Mexico will meet in the consolation game.
Fran Fraschilla’s Lobos were beaten 70-57 by Dayton in the second game last night after St. John’s was upset by Samford 68-60. Fraschilla coached at St. John’s for two campaigns before being fired following the 1997-98 season. He is in his first season at New Mexico.
“I guess everyone gets the game they wanted,” St. John’s coach Mike Jarvis said while watching the final minutes of the UNM game. David Morris scored 17 points to lead four Dayton players in double figures.
“It’s going to be a very tough matchup,” Fraschilla said.George Willis
