Italian badboy Antonio Cassano joined up with his new AC Milan teammates Monday ahead of a winter tour to Dubai after his controversial switch from Sampdoria.

The forward, one of the most talented but disruptive players of his generation, was picked up by the Italian league leader after a terminal spat with Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone.

The dispute saw Cassano suspended from league soccer until Feb. 1, but he will debut for Milan as early as Jan. 2 in a friendly against Dubai-based Al Ahli, where the squad is set to practice.

“Cassano arrived at the Milanello training ground at 11:30am [local time] and said hello to his new teammates, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” a statement on the club website confirmed. “From tomorrow [Tuesday], he can train with Milan in Dubai with permission from Sampdoria.”

The 28-year-old’s tempestuous behavior once led England soccer boss Fabio Capello — who attempted to manage him at Roma — coin the popular term “Cassanata” to describe a player whose actions run entirely contrary to team spirit.
