Holy Cross High School hoop star Sylven Landesberg will announce his college choice at a press conference today at Holy Cross, and numerous sources said he won’t be going to St. John’s.

Instead, the 6-foot-5 senior is expected to head to Virginia, despite St. John’s last-ditch recruiting efforts, which included Landesberg meeting with Lou Carnesecca.

Landesberg, the top senior in the city, narrowed his list to St. John’s, Virginia and Georgia Tech. The Red Storm coaching staff hoped he would be the recruit to turn the program around.
