The Jets’ stunning 2-0 start has made an impact on several NFL rankings.
After starting the season in the mid-20s (among 32 teams), the Jets are flying up the charts at Sports Illustrated, Yahoo!, CBS Sports, FOX Sports and NFL.com.
The Jets are ranked no lower than ninth in any of this week’s so-called Power Rankings.
Here’s a look at how the Jets have risen since the start of the season:
SI.com: 16th to 13th to 4th
Yahoo!: 12th (after Week 1) to 4th
CBSSports.com: 24th to 16th to 6th
FOXSports.com: 21st to 14th to 9th
The eight-member panel of NFL.com experts ranks the Jets 4th (three times), 5th (once), 7th (four times).
And the folks at WhatifSports.com put the Jets at No. 1, based on a winning percentage of .759 over 50,000 simulated games.
Of note, Eric Mangini’s Browns are ranked 30th by Yahoo!, 31st by FOX, and 32nd (last by CBS and SI.
The Giants are ranked No. 1 by CBS and FOX, and all of the NFL.com panel, and third (behind the Ravens and Saints) by SI and Yahoo!
