Longtime ABC/ESPN anchor and reporter Jimmy Roberts has been hired by NBC Sports to serve in several capacities, but especially as a golf commentator.

Roberts, 43, began with ABC Sports in 1976 as a runner while still in college, and eventually rose to become a highly regarded and versatile broadcaster, noted most for his work on ABC/ESPN’s golf coverage.

With NBC, in addition to golf, he’ll be assigned to cover the Sydney Olympics, horse racing and Wimbledon. Roberts also will provide occasional sports reporting for NBC News.
