U.S. National Team newcomer Jose Francisco Torres started and played 68 minutes in Pachuca’s 4-2 FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal win over Al Ahlyon Friday. The victory lifted the Mexican club _ and the 21-year-old American midfielder _ into Wednesday’s semifinal vs. Ecuadorian side Liga de Quito, the South American club champs.

Pachuca, the CONCACAF winners, rallied from a 2-0 deficit by pouring in four unanswered goals. Another win in the semis, and Torres could well find himself facing Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United for the world title.
