U.S. national team striker Jozy Altidore will undergo an MRI exam tomorrow in Houston to determine the extent of his injury and his availability for Wednesday’s Gold Cup semifinal against Panama.

The 21-year-old Altidore strained his left hamstring in the ninth minute of Sunday’s 2-0 quarterfinal win over Jamaica. He was replaced by fellow New Jersey native Juan Agudelo, and the 18-year-old Red Bull played the rest of the game as the lone striker in coach Bob Bradley’s lineup, serving in a low cross to assist on Clint Dempsey’s game-clinching 80th-minute goal.

“We will have an update on Jozy later. He’s played well thus far in this tournament and hopefully he’ll still be available for us,’’ said Bradley, whose team will look to avenge an earlier upset loss to Panama in the group stage. “We’ve had different guys come through for us so far. Everybody is needed in this kind of tournament.

“This is a tough tournament in terms of the games and how fast they come and the travel. We keep talking to the players that aren’t getting minutes and making sure that we are still training these guys and pushing them hard because they are all going to need to be ready.”
