Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Len Elmore will help raise money for Power Memorial Academy’s Alumni Association to fund Catholic school scholarships to inner-city kids tonight at the school’s 80th anniversary reunion dinner at 630 second, a banquet facility located at 630 Second Avenue in Manhattan.

Abdul-Jabbar graduated from Power Memorial in 1965. Then known as Lew Alcindor, he led the school to a 71-game winning streak before starring at UCLA. Elmore, also a center, attended the school a few years later, and his 1970 team was No. 1 in the nation with a 22-0 record.

The basketball powerhouse, which sat behind Lincoln Center, closed in 1984. Hall of Famer Chris Mullin was the last NBA star to play there before transferring to Xaverian after two seasons.

Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and Elmore, who had a 10-year NBA career, is a former Brooklyn prosecutor and a college basketball analyst.

Vintage-style Spalding basketballs, signed by Jabbar and Elmore, will be available for purchase.

Rep. Joseph Crowley, a Queens Congressman who is the highest-ranking New York Democrat in the House of Representatives, will also be on hand. He played on Power Memorial’s B team.
