On Tuesday night Katie Ledecky won her second gold medal at this year’s Olympics and a short time later Michael Phelps picked up two golds of his own.
It was a magnificent night for both athletes, but things were very different 10 years ago, when a smiling 9-year-old Ledecky simply wanted Phelps’ autograph.
At the time, 21-year-old Phelps had just six gold medals to his name (he now has 21) while the precocious Ledecky was little more than a fan.
It was not, however, Ledecky’s first brush with a famous athlete.
In 2013 she tweeted out a happy birthday message to Michael Jordan along with a photo of His Airness holding her as a toddler.
