The Knicks aren’t the only New York team that needed cap space. If St. John’s was going to sign California swingman Remi Barry, coach Steve Lavin needed to find another scholarship.

He found one yesterday when swingman Omari Lawrence said he will transfer out of St. John’s. Lawrence, a sophomore from The Bronx, did not say where he intended to transfer.

Also, 25 years after helping the Red Storm get to the Final Four, Walter “The Truth” Berry got his degree from St. John’s yesterday.
